Working with other namespaces by using XML

You can submit XML requests directly to any Microsoft Provisioning System namespace that is registered in Microsoft Provisioning Framework (MPF). The topics in this section do not cover submitting XML requests directly to all of the namespaces, but is limited to those namespaces containing procedures that are called by Delegated Administration Console.

• Namespaces included in MPF

  The Microsoft Provisioning Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) contains additional resources that can help you use the provider and non-provider namespaces installed with MPF, such as the Active Directory Provider namespace and Error Provider namespace. For more information on the SDK and how to use it, see Microsoft Provisioning Framework SDK and documentation.

• Provider namespaces available in Microsoft Provisioning System

  Three provider namespaces are not installed with MPF, but are available in Microsoft Provisioning System as separately installed components. These are:

  • Exchange Provider namespace

    You will find documentation on the Exchange Provider namespace in the Exchange Provider SDK, located in the \help folder on the Microsoft Provisioning Server installation CD.

  • IIS Provider namespace

    You will find documentation on the IIS Provider namespace in the IIS Provider SDK, located in the \support\reskit\Providers folder on the Microsoft Provisioning Server installation CD.

  • FrontPage Provider namespace

    You will find documentation on the IIS Provider namespace is in the FrontPage and SharePoint Team Services Provider SDK, located in the \support\reskit\Providers folder on the Microsoft Provisioning Server installation CD.

  • Important

    • The FrontPage security model does not support checking of permissions. For this reason, all procedures of the FrontPage Provider namespace have an access type of Private. You should not call these procedures directly. To implement security for any of these procedures, you must perform the appropriate security checking before calling the FrontPage procedures.
• Custom namespaces

  The Microsoft Provisioning Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) contains additional resources on implementing custom namespaces. For more information on the SDK and how to use it, see Microsoft Provisioning Framework SDK and documentation. For information on submitting XML requests to namespaces that are not part of the Microsoft Provisioning System, see the documentation provided by the namespace owner.
