Before you install Microsoft Provisioning System, ensure that
you have adequate permissions. For a single computer installation,
you must have Administrator credentials. For a domain installation,
you must have Domain Administrator credentials. To install
Delegated Administration Console, you must have Schema
Administrator credentials.
All computers in your Microsoft Provisioning System deployment
must have permanent static Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
Domain Name System (DNS) must be properly configured.
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with Service Pack 1 (or later) or
Microsoft Data Engine 2000 with Service Pack 1, Microsoft Data
Access Components (MDAC) version 2.61
Non-provider namespaces and providers
Microsoft Provisioning Framework
Delegated Administration Console
Microsoft Provisioning Framework version 5.2 or later, Internet
Information Services (IIS) 5.0 or later, Active Directory
configured in native mode and list
object mode, Microsoft Provisioning Framework client components
and MDAC, installed on the same computer as Delegated
Administration Console
Microsoft Provisioning Framework
Microsoft Provisioning Framework (MPF) components can be
installed on a single computer or distributed across multiple
computers on a single domain. All MPF components, except for the
client components and administration tools, require Microsoft
Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 or later.
Administration tools and client components can be installed on
computers running Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack
2 or later.
If you have a non-default instance of SQL Server 2000 installed,
this might affect the installation of Microsoft Provisioning
System. See the installation guides (install_single.htm or
install_multi.htm) for more information.
Notes
If you want MPF components to communicate with other MPF
components on the domain, during installation choose a domain
installation instead of a local install. If you choose a local
installation of MPF, MPF components on other machines in your
domain will not be able to communicate with MPF. This is due to the
difference between domain accounts and local accounts.
For more information on the MPF administration tools and client
components, see the section called "Install Microsoft Provisioning
Framework using the Setup Wizard" in the installation documentation
located in the root folder on the Microsoft Provisioning System
product CD. For a single computer configuration, see
install_single.htm. For a multi-computer configuration, see
install_multi.htm.
Microsoft Provisioning System Delegated Administration
Console
Delegated Administration Console requires the following
additional components and configuration changes:
Active Directory configured in native mode and list object
mode.
SQL Server 2000 must be configured for integrated
authentication.
MPF client components must be installed on the same computer as
Delegated Administration Console.
Non-provider namespaces and providers must be installed into
the MPF database
Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.
For more information about making these configuration changes, see
the installation documentation (install_single.htm or
install_multi.htm) located on the Microsoft Provisioning System
CD-ROM.
