Creating custom namespaces

You can create new, custom namespaces to change or extend the functionality of the namespaces that are included with Microsoft Provisioning System. For example, you can create a new namespace to:

• Create a new grouping of related, existing procedures.
• Call a new, custom provider

The "Customization" chapter of the Microsoft Provisioning Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) and the Managed Active Directory Namespace "How To" guide, located in the \support folder on the product CD, contain detailed instructions for creating custom providers and namespaces.

Important

• You must register your custom namespace in the Microsoft Provisioning Framework configuration database before you can use it. For more information on registering a namespace, see Register a new namespace.
