Working with FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions and SharePoint Team Services

You can use Delegated Administration Console to provision FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions from Microsoft and SharePoint Team Services for an organization. When you do this, user accounts within the organization are given "Read" access to the FrontPage Web site and the SharePoint Team Services Web site. In addition, the user account or group that you designate as the FrontPage administrator is given administrative credentials for configuring FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions and SharePoint Team Services provisioning user accounts and permissions. By default, Microsoft Provisioning System configures the reseller administrator or organization administrator group as the FrontPage administrator. You can change the default to a user account or group of your choice.

In order to provision FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions and SharePoint Team Services, you must have servers in your deployment of Microsoft Provisioning System that are running the necessary software. For more information about installing and configuring the Microsoft Provisioning System software, see Installing Microsoft Provisioning System.

In order to log on to the SharePoint Team Services Web site, users can provide the same password that they use for logging on to Delegated Administration Console. The user name they provide might be different, however. Delegated Administration Console user names are Active Directory user principal names (UPNs). SharePoint Team Services user names are security access manager (SAM) account names. In many cases, the UPN and SAM user account names are identical. In some cases, however, they are different.

It is important to notify users when their Delegated Administration Console and SharePoint Team Services user names are different. You can view both the UPN and SAM account name for a user account on the User Properties tab in either the My Account or User Account section of Delegated Administration Console. For specific information about viewing and managing user account information, see Delegated Administration Console Help.
