Report Data Query Client is a .Net class library for consumer applications to access monitoring and reporting data in the Hosted Messaging and Collaboration management database. It is part of Reporting Data Abstraction Layer.

Customer applications can use Query Client to retrieve tenant information and availability data from the Hosted Messaging and Collaboration Reporting Database.

Query Client contains the following .Net namespace:

• Microsoft.Provisioning.Monitoring

Exceptions thrown from Report Data Query Client can either be originated by query client itself, stored procedures, or lower level API. For exceptions created by query client, they can have following categories:

• InvalidArgumentException. This will happen if input parameters are not valid. For example, invalid user name, organization name, or reseller name.
• Security exception. Query Client will not perform any security check, so there will not be any security exception generated by Query Client. For security exceptions thrown by low level API, Query Client thrown it as it is.
• HealthQueryException. If the return code from a stored procedure is not zero, which means an error case has happened, HealthQueryException will be thrown. Error codes returned from stored procedures will be included in exception.
• Exceptions generated by lower level API will be thrown as it is.
