To consolidate events, you must create a consolidation
rule. A consolidation rule is a type of event processing rule
that specifies that multiple similar events on an agent computer
will be grouped into a single summary event.
Consolidation rules do not provide responses or generate alerts.
You can create other processing rules to generate alerts or provide
responses for the summary event specified in a consolidation
rule.
To create a consolidation rule:
Expand Microsoft Operations Manager in the left
pane.
Expand Rules in the left pane.
Expand Processing Rule Groups in the left pane.
Expand the processing rule group to which you want to add the
new consolidation rule. For information about creating a processing
rule group, see Creating a
Processing Rule Group.
Click Event Processing Rules in the left pane.
Click Action on the menu bar.
Click Consolidate Similar Events on the Action
menu.
Follow the instructions until you have completed creating the
consolidation rule. For more information about the fields on a
window, click Help.
