Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 (MOM) is a rules-based system. Rules group similar computers together, process the majority of information you want to monitor, and define actions MOM will take. You can create two types of rules:
Processing rule groups allow you to categorize processing
rules. For example, you could create a processing rule group named
High Security
for processing rules that are
security-related. You can associate a processing rule group with a
computer group to carry out processing rules on specific
computers.
MOM includes Management Pack modules, predefined computer groups and processing rules for monitoring specific applications or environments.
