Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 (MOM) can send a page to designated operators when a processing rule match occurs. A third-party paging service is required. Your paging service must provide an SMTP e-mail service for MOM paging to work. MOM paging works by sending an e-mail to the paging service, which forwards the e-mail to the appropriate paging recipient.
For example, you might want a network administrator to be paged
for any Service Unavailable alerts. When a Service Unavailable
alert occurs, MOM could page a high-priority notification group,
such as Help Desk Supervisors
. The pager message
could, for example, include the name of the computer generating the
alert and the event text.
