Components Window

The Components window provides an overview of the product architecture, along with links to the Web Console, published reports, and component windows. The Agents, Consolidators, and Agent Managers windows allow you to monitor specific product components

Note

In the Agents, Consolidators, and Agent Managers windows, you can instruct Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 (MOM) to ignore a specific computer's status. If you know that the monitored computer is offline for service reasons, or if you expect one of the computers in your enterprise to be frequently offline, you can specify that the agent status on that computer is ignored.

MOM determines status using the agent heartbeat. When the product does not receive an expected heartbeat from an agent, the agent status is stopped. The status of an agent is recorded in the Agent Status column in the details pane.

The following windows provide information about MOM components:

Agents window
Lists all computers in the configuration group on which an agent is installed. You can also quickly mark agents that you wish to exclude from the Managed Computers list, and those agents will be marked for removal the next time rules are evaluated.
Consolidators window
Lists all computers in the configuration group on which a Consolidator is installed.
Agent Managers window
Lists all computers in the configuration group on which an Agent Manager is installed.
