Monitoring Alerts

Before you can monitor alerts, several conditions have to be met, whether you have created your own processing rules or are using predefined Management Pack modules:

Monitoring alerts lets you respond immediately to problems. Alerts provide detailed information about computer conditions. You can read an alert, its associated knowledge base, and its resolution history to see what responses have been performed, and to determine what further actions you need to take to resolve the indicated condition.

You can monitor alerts using the Monitor snap-in or the Web Console. You can use default alert views or create your own alert views. The Monitor snap-in provides default views of alerts, including All Open Alerts and All Service Level Exceptions. Custom views you can create include Open alerts from a specified source and Alerts that are not Resolved, as well as others matching criteria you specify.
