To deploy the App-V Desktop Client using Group Policy, use a software-installation policy to install Setup.msi. Unlike when deploying the client by using Setup.exe, Setup.msi does not install prerequisites. Therefore, make sure the prerequisites are installed prior to deploying Setup.msi.

The App-V Desktop Client MSI files support a variety of properties for configuring the client during installation. The section Deploy the App-V Desktop Client in an Image showed many of these properties in the command-line example. However, when deploying an MSI file using Group Policy, you cannot configure properties. Instead, create a transform (MST) file to change properties during installation. For more information about deploying MSI files by using Group Policy and using MST files to configure properties, see the Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 documentation.
