You can inventory and store data in multiple MAP databases. Using the Manage Database option, you can easily manage multiple databases. The Manage Database interface lists all MAP databases available in the local instance of SQL Server® and allows you to export, import, edit or delete one or more MAP databases.
Import
Using the Import option you can import a MAP database that was previously exported.
To import an inventory database
1. In the File menu of MAP Toolkit console, click Manage Databases.
2. In the database management window, click Import.
3. In the Backup File field of the import information dialog box, type the location of the backup file. You can also use the Browse button to select a file.
4. In the Database Name field, type a database name.
5. Click OK.
Note: The name cannot be the same as an existing database
Export
Using the Export option you can export a MAP database from one installation of the MAP Toolkit to another installation.
To export an inventory database
1. In the File menu of the MAP Toolkit console, click Manage Databases.
2. From the list of available databases in the database management window, click to select the database you want to export, and click Export.
3. Select a destination folder for the backup file
4. In the File Name field, type a file name and click Save.
Edit
You can use Edit option to specify descriptions for the databases you create using the MAP Toolkit. Edit option is available only for databases created or upgraded using the latest version of the MAP Toolkit.
To edit the description of a database
1. In the File menu of the MAP Toolkit console, click Manage Databases.
2. From the list of available databases in the database management window, click to select the database you want to specify a description for, and click Edit.
3. In the Description field of the Edit Description of selected database dialog, type a description and click OK.
Delete
Using the Delete option, you can delete previously created MAP databases.
To delete a database
1. In the File menu of the MAP Toolkit console, click Manage Databases.
2. From the list of available databases in the database management window, click to select the database you want to delete, and click Delete.
