Inventory Assessment Results and Problems

Verify the results of the inventory and assessment process. In some scenarios, the inventory and assessment results may not accurately reflect the environment. The following list summarizes some of these conditions:

·         If computers are missing from the inventory, ensure that they are connected to the network and are turned on.

·         Unused computer accounts in Active Directory domains may be in the inventory results.

·         If the result does not display an appropriate description, this may be because the computer used to run the wizard could not establish a WMI connection with a computer. This could occur in the following situations:

·         File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft® Networks or Client for Windows Networks is not enabled on the network adapter.

·         The computer has Windows Firewall turned on and does not have the Remote Administration exception enabled.

·         The account used for inventory does not have local administrator rights on the computer.

·         Sharing and security model for local accounts is configured on the computer with the Classic - Local users authenticate as themselves setting.

The Getting Started Guide has additional troubleshooting information, and provides detailed information on preparing your environment for MAP inventory scenarios.
