The Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates Setup creates a package, program, and collection needed to install 64-bit versions of the Windows Update Agent, but you must manually create an advertisement for client distribution. A separate advertisement is needed for the x64 and IA64 versions of the Windows Update Agent.
|When upgrading to the Configuration Manager 2007 Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates, the Microsoft Updates Agent 64-bit packages do not have distribution points defined. You must modify the properties for the package and add at least one distribution point before the advertisement using the package will succeed.|
Use the following procedure to create these advertisements.
To create an advertisement for the 64-bit Windows Update Agent
Right-click Advertisements, point to New, and click Advertisement.
On the General tab, type a name for the advertisement.
Click the drop-down button in the Package field to select Microsoft Updates Agent x64 or Microsoft Updates Agent IA64.
Click the drop-down button in the Program field to select the program for the 64-bit Windows Update Agent.
Click Browse in the Collection field to select Microsoft Updates Tool x64 or Microsoft Updates Tool IA64 collection.
On the Schedule, Advanced Client, and Security tabs, configure any needed options.
