This step of the wizard gives you the option of creating additional Configuration Manager objects to distribute the Windows Update Agent (WUA) to your clients. If you are certain that all of your clients already have a supported version of the WUA installed, you can click to clear the Create SMS objects to distribute the Windows Update Agent check box.

Note
If you attempt to run the Configuration Manager 2007 Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates on a client that does not have the correct version of the WUA installed, the advertisement will fail. For example, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 contains a version of the Windows Update Agent that is not supported by the Configuration Manager 2007 Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates and must be upgraded. To verify the version, check the file version of wuaueng.dll in the %system32% folder with Explorer. The version of this file needs to be 5.8 or later to support this inventory tool

If you select Create SMS objects to distribute the Windows Update Agent, you must specify a name for the additional objects Configuration Manager will create. The suggested name is Windows Update Agent. If you choose a different name, the name must be different from any existing Configuration Manager objects, especially from the name you created for the objects that distribute the inventory tool. The name must be less than 33 characters long.

If you select Copy the Windows Update Agent package to all distribution points, Setup automatically configures the package to be copied to all distribution points in the site where Setup is running and to all child sites. If you want to limit the distribution points that contain the Windows Update Agent package, do not select this option, but you should manually configure the distribution points for the package after Setup is complete.

If you do not select Create a program to install the Windows Update Agent on which the inventory tool is dependent, Setup does not create any programs. You should manually create a program to run WindowsUpdateAgent20-<architecture>.exe /q.
