Upgrade Service Provisioning Servers
In this section, you will upgrade the MPS Database server cluster, the provisioning engine servers, and the provisioning web server.
Upgrade the MPS Database Server Cluster
Procedure UG.5: To install Windows Server 2003 SP2 and Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 on MPS SQL server nodes

Log on to MPSSQL01 as a domain administrator.
-
Install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
-
Apply any released updates to Windows Server 2003 by using Windows Update.
-
Install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1.
-
Restart the server.
-
Repeat this procedure on MPSSQL02.
Procedure UG.6: To install SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 onto the cluster
-
Log on to MPSSQL01 as a domain administrator.
-
Use Cluster Administrator to ensure that MPSSQL01 is the active node. If not, move the resources to MPSSQL01.
-
Run the SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 installation file. Follow the instructions to perform a default installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2.

To complete the installation, restart MPSSQL01 and MPSSQL02.
Upgrade the Provisioning Engine Servers
Procedure UG.7: To upgrade the provisioning engine servers

Log on to MPS01 as a domain administrator.

Install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
-
Apply any released updates to Windows Server 2003 by using Windows Update.

Install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1.

Restart the server.

Repeat this procedure on MPS02.
Upgrade the Provisioning Web Server
Procedure UG.8: To upgrade the provisioning Web server

Logon to PROV01 as a domain administrator.

Install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
-
Apply any released updates to Windows Server 2003 by using Windows Update.

Install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1.

Restart the server.
Upgrade the Provisioning Services
Procedure UG.9: To upgrade the MPS Deployment Tool

Log on to MPS01 as a domain administrator.
-
Run DeploymentTool.msi from the Service Provisioning\DeploymentTool folder on your solution media.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the existing MPS Deployment Tool and then install the new MPS Deployment Tool.
Procedure UG.10: To upgrade the provisioning services

On MPS01, open the MPS Deployment Tool. It will notify you that new versions of MPS Components are ready for deployment. This only happens on the first run.

On the File menu, select Save Installed Configuration. This will save the current deployed configuration settings.

Open a command prompt, and then navigate to the Exchange 2007 SP1 32-bit installation files.

Run the following command:
Copy Code Setup /m:upgrade

After the upgrade is complete, restart the server.

Repeat this procedure on MPS02.
Upgrade the MPS DNS Client on the DNS Server
Procedure UG.12: To upgrade the MPS DNS client on DNS01

On DNS01, uninstall the old version of the MPS DNS client.

Install the new version by running DNSClient.msi from the Service Provisioning\MPS\Providers\DNS directory on the solution distribution media.
Upgrade the Windows SharePoint Services Web Service
Procedure UG.13: To upgrade the Windows SharePoint Services Web Service on COLLAB01

On COLLAB01, uninstall the old version of the Windows SharePoint Services Web Service.

Install the new version by running WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi from the Service Provisioning\MPS\Providers\AdminWebService directory on the solution distribution media.
