The Entry Tier architecture Hosted Office Communications Server 2007 would not include a director pool, as only a single pool of servers exists. The Entry Tier architecture is designed to support up to 30,000 users. The design allows for STUN server work and redundancy in all roles.
The Entry Tier architecture includes both dedicated servers, and servers running more than one role:
- Two servers running as a SQL cluster for CDR archiving and
back-end database
- Four servers running the consolidated enterprise pool
deployment
- Four servers running consolidated Edge server roles
- One server running Communicator Web Access server role
The following figure shows the architecture for an Entry Tier deployment.
