In this topic, you create a (non-admin) user for AlpineSkiHouse business organization by using the Sample Provisioning UI. Then, you mail-enable the business user, kima@alpineskihouse.com, by adding a hosted e-mail plan to her user account. Finally, you will verify that the Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) features enabled for the user's mailbox account, as specified by the service plan, are present in the OWA interface.

Create a Business User by Using the Sample Provisioning UI

Log on to the Sample Provisioning UI and create the kima@alpineskihouse.com non-admin enabled user in the AlpineSkiHouse business organization.

Procedure RUN.25: To create an AlpineSkiHouse business organization user

  1. Log on to a computer which uses DNS01 for name resolution.

  2. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer and browse to http://www.consolidatedmessenger.com/sampleprovisioningui.

  3. On the logon page, enter johnc@alpineskihouse.com for the user ID, and then enter the password for this account.

  4. In the Sample Provisioning UI left pane, select the AlpineSkiHouse business organization. On the Sample Provisioning UI menu bar, click New User.

  5. Enter the information in the following table. Submit the information when done.

Mail-Enable the Business User by Using the Sample Provisioning UI

Use the Sample Provisioning UI and add the BasicMailbox e-mail plan to kima@alpineskihouse.com.

Procedure RUN.26: To mail-enable the business user by using the Sample Provisioning UI

  1. In the sample provisioning UI left pane, expand AlpineSkiHouse, and then select the user Kim Akers.

  2. On the Sample Provisioning UI menu bar, select the Services menu, select Hosted Email, and then click Create Mailbox.

  3. Enter the information given in the following table. Submit the information to mail-enable the user.

Log On as the Business User by Using Outlook Web Access

Log on to Outlook Web Access (OWA) as kima@alpineskihouse.com and verify OWA features.

Procedure RUN.27: To log on as the business user using OWA

  1. Log on to a computer which uses DNS01 for name resolution.

  2. Open Internet Explorer and browse to the following URL: https://webmail.consolidatedmessenger.com/owa.

  3. When prompted, enter kima@alpineskihouse.com for the user ID, and then enter the password for this account.

  4. The features available in the OWA client for this user are limited by the service plan, as described in the following table. Verify that these features are available.
