Install Prerequisites for the Unified Messaging Server Role

A number of prerequisites must be installed before the Exchange 2007 SP1 Unified Messaging server role can be installed.

Procedure W03-DWHE.40: To install prerequisites for the Unified Messaging server role

  1. Install Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition (x64) with SP2

  2. Install IIS.

  3. Install the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 with SP1.

  4. Install the Windows Server 2003 Support Tools.

  5. Join the Fabrikam domain.

  6. Enable the ASP.NET 2.0 Web service extensions in Internet Information Services Manager.

  7. Install Microsoft PowerShell 1.0.

  8. Install MSXML 6.0 Core Services.

  9. Install the Windows Media Encoder 9 Series software (visit Windows Media Encoder 9 Series x64 Edition).

  10. Install the Microsoft Windows Media Audio Voice codec (visit FIX: Availability of the Windows Media Audio 9 Voice codec for x64-based computers).

Install the Unified Messaging Server Role

After you install the prerequisites, install the Exchange 2007 SP1 Unified Messaging server role.

Procedure W03-DWHE.41: To install the Unified Messaging server role

  1. Log on to EXUM01 as Fabrikam\Administrator.

  2. Using the Exchange 2007 SP1 installation media, run Exchange 2007 SP1 setup from the command line specifying the Unified Messaging role:
