In this topic, you will deploy the Exchange 2007 SP1 Unified Messaging server role.

Prepare the Unified Messaging Server (EXUM01)

Procedure W08-DWHE.53: To prepare the Unified Messaging server (EXUM01)1

  1. Install Windows Server 2008 (x64) on EXUM01.

  2. Enable Remote Desktop.

  3. Join the Fabrikam domain.

  4. Disable Windows Firewall.

Install IIS

Procedure W08-DWHE.54: To install IIS

  1. On EXUM01, open the Server Manager console.

  2. Add the Web Server (IIS) role. Add the features required for Web Server (Windows Process Activation Service) when prompted.

  3. In addition to the default web server roles, select IIS 6 Management Compatibility management tool.

  4. Confirm your selections and start the installation.

Install Windows PowerShell and Windows Media Components

Procedure W08-DWHE.55: To install Windows PowerShell and Windows Media Components

  1. On EXUM01, open the Server Manager console.

  2. Add the Windows PowerShell and Desktop Experience features. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

  3. Restart the server when prompted.

Install the Unified Messaging Server Role

Procedure W08-DWHE.56: To install the Unified Messaging server role

  1. Log on to EXUM01 as Fabrikam\Administrator.

  2. Using the Exchange 2007 SP1 installation media, run Exchange 2007 SP1 setup from the command line specifying the Unified Messaging server role:

  3. After installation completes, restart EXUM01.
