Prepare the Office Communications Server 2007 Archiving and CDR Server
Procedure W08-DWHO.1: To install Prerequisites for Office Communications Server 2007 Archiving and CDR server role

Install Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition with SP2 on OCSSQLCDR01.
-
Install the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 with SP1.
-
Install the Windows Server 2003 Support Tools.
-
Join the Fabrikam domain.
Procedure W08-DWHO.2: To create a SQL service account

Create a SQL service account (OCSSQLService) in the Active Directory Users container. Set the password to never expire.

Add OCSSQLService to the local Administrators group on OCSSQLCDR01.
-
Add OCSSQLService to the Windows-based Hosting Service Accounts group.
Procedure W08-DWHO.3: To install SQL Server 2005 with Service Pack 2

Log on to OCSSQLCDR01 as Fabrikam\Administrator.

Run Setup.exe from the SQL Server 2005 media.
-
Install the following components:
- SQL Server Database Services
- Workstation components, Books Online and development
tools
- SQL Server Database Services

At the Service Account screen, specify fabrikam\OCSSQLService.

Configure SQL for Windows authentication.
-
After SQL 2005 setup completes successfully, install SQL 2005 Service Pack 2.

Restart the server to complete the installation.
Note: A warning message for the IIS Feature Requirement will appear if Internet Information Services (IIS) has not been installed. This error message is expected and it is safe to continue with the installation.
Prepare Active Directory Schema, Forest, and Domain
Download and review Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Active Directory Guide in order to get ready to:
- Prepare the Active Directory Schema. Extend the schema
so that the new classes and attributes required for Office
Communications Server 2007 can be added to the schema. This step is
run once on an Active Directory forest.
- Prepare the Active Directory Forest. Create Office
Communications Server objects and attributes under the Systems
container in the root domain or under the configuration naming
context. These objects and attributes are required for Office
Communications Server deployment and operations. Prep Forest is
required and run once on an Active Directory forest.
- Prepare Each Active Directory Domain. Add permissions on
objects in the domain for universal groups. Prep Domain is required
and must be run once in each domain where you deploy Office
Communications Server.
Procedure W08-DWHO.4: To prepare the Active Directory schema

Log on to OCSSQLCDR01 as Fabrikam\Administrator.
Note: You must be a member of the Active Directory Schema Admins group in order to extend the schema. -
Run Setup.exe from the Office Communications Server 2007 Enterprise Edition media to start the Office Communications Server 2007 deployment wizard.
Note: If you are prompted to install a C++ Redistributable component, do so. -
Select Deploy Pools in an Expanded Topology, and then click Prepare Active Directory to open the Active Directory Preparation screen.

Next to Prep Schema, click Run.

Select Default: Schema files are located in the same directory as Setup to locate the schema files.
Procedure W08-DWHO.5: To prepare the Active Directory forest

On OCSSQLCDR01, from the Office Communications Server 2007 deployment wizard, on the Active Directory Preparation screen, next to Prep Forest, click Run.

Select System container in the root domain.

Accept the root domain fabrikam.com.

Accept the SIP domain fabrikam.com.
Procedure W08-DWHO.6: To prepare the Active Directory domain

On OCSSQLCDR01, from the Office Communications Server 2007 deployment wizard, on the Active Directory Preparation screen, next to Prep Current Domain, click Run.

Accept all defaults.

After domain prep runs successfully, close the deployment wizard and log off from OCSSQLCDR01.
Install the Archiving and CDR Server Role
Procedure W08-DWHO.7: To install Microsoft Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ)

Log on to OCSSQLCDR01 as Fabrikam\Administrator.

In the Add or Remove Programs console, click Add/Remove Windows Components.
-
Highlight Application Server and click Details.
-
Select Messaging Queuing to install the component.
Procedure W08-DWHO.8: To deploy the Archiving and CDR server role

Log on to OCSSQLCDR01 as Fabrikam\Administrator.

Run Setup.exe from the Office Communications Server 2007 Enterprise Edition media to start the Office Communications Server 2007 deployment wizard.

Select Deploy Other Server Roles, and then select Deploy Archiving and CDR Server.

On the Deploy Archiving and CDR Server page, next to Step 1:Install Files for Archiving and CDR Server, click Install.

Install the files to the default location. Accept the default message queue path for the Archiving and CDR server.
Activate the Archiving and CDR Server
The activation process performs the following tasks:
- Establishes a new or existing service account for the Archiving
and CDR Server
- Creates or assigns a SQL Server archiving database
- Assigns directories for the database and transaction log
files
- Activates the Archiving and CDR Server role
Procedure W08-DWHO.9: To activate the Archiving and CDR server

On OCSSQLCDR01, from the Office Communications Server 2007 deployment wizard, on the Deploy Archiving and CDR Server page, next to Step 2:Activate Archiving and CDR Server, click Run.

At the Select Service Account page, select Create A New Account. Accept the service account name RTCArchivingService, and then enter a password which meets your Active Directory password complexity requirements.

At the Select SQL Server Instance page, enter the following information:
- SQL Server instance used by the Archiving and CDR Server:
OCSSQLCDR01
- Database Name: LcsLog
- SQL Server instance used by the Archiving and CDR Server:
OCSSQLCDR01

At the Reuse Existing Database screen, select Replace any existing database.

At the Locations for Database Files screen, enter the locations for databases and transaction logs.
Note: Placing your transaction logs and database files on separate physical disks is recommended. -
At the Start Service Option page, select the Start the service after activation check box.

If you receive a message that the Archiving and CDR server role was successfully activated, but the service failed to start, this may be because the Active Directory domain controllers have not fully replicated the new account yet. Wait for the domain controllers to synchronize (or manually initiate synchronization), and then go to the Services MMC snap-in and attempt to start the Office Communications Server Archiving and CDR service. |
