Before you deploy System Center Operations Manager 2007, you need to build the management server, OMMGR01.

Tasks

  1. Prepare the OMMGR01 Server
  2. Install IIS and ASP.NET on OMMGR01
  3. Install the .NET Framework 3.0 and Windows PowerShell

Prepare the OMMGR01 Server

Procedure W08-DWM.4: To prepare the OMMGR01 server

  1. Install Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition.

  2. Enable Remote Desktop.

  3. Join the Fabrikam domain.

  4. Disable Windows Firewall.

Install IIS and ASP.NET on OMMGR01

Procedure W08-DWM.5: To install IIS and ASP.NET on OMMGR01

  1. Log on to OMMGR01 as Fabrikam\Administrator and open the Server Manager console.

  2. Add the Web Server (IIS) role. Add features required for Web Server when prompted.

  3. In addition to the default web server roles, select additional services according to the following table:

    Common HTTP Features

    Application Development

    Security

    Management Tools

    • Static Content
    • Default Document
    • Directory Browsing
    • HTTP Errors
    • HTTP Redirection
    • ASP.NET
      Note:
      Add features required for ASP.NET when prompted.
    • Basic Authentication
    • Windows Authentication
    • URL Authorization
    • Request Filtering
    • IP and Domain Restrictions
    • IIS 6 Management Compatibility

  4. Confirm the selections and start the installation.

  1. Log on to OMMGR01 as Fabrikam\Administrator and open the Server Manager console.

  2. Add the following features:

    • .NET Framework 3.0 Features
    • Windows PowerShell
