The successful Disaster Recovery methodology is to prevent the disaster from occurring in the first place. Although no system is perfect, adopting a set of clearly defined best practices can significantly improve a data center's risk of disaster.

This section of the documentation provides a set of best practices that can help you prepare for, hopefully prevent, and at minimum, mitigate the impact of operational problems.

These best practices are grouped into two separate sections. One focuses on technology-based best practices which have been designed to improve processes within specific areas and/or components of the solution. The other area addresses the human factor in operations, providing guidance for how to work with IT, Operations, and other staff to improve how review meetings are held in order to build rapport, clarify communications, and ultimately streamline operations.
