In this topic, you will add a Web Components server to the enterprise pool.

Tasks

  1. Install the Web Components Server
  2. Activate the Web Components Server
  3. Request and Install SSL Certificate

Install the Web Components Server

Procedure W03-DWHO.19: To install the Web Components server

  1. Log on to OCSPOOLWEB01 as Fabrikam\Administrator.

  2. Run Setup.exe from the Office Communications Server 2007 Enterprise Edition media to start the Office Communications Server 2007 deployment wizard.

    Note:
If you are prompted to install a C++ Redistributable component, do so.
  3. On the Deploy Pools in an Expanded Topology page, select Add Web Components Server.

  4. Next to Step 1: Install Files for Web Components Server, click Install.

  5. Install the files to the default location.

Activate the Web Components Server

Procedure W03-DWHO.20: To activate the Web Components server

  1. On OCSPOOLWEB01, from the Office Communications Server 2007 deployment wizard, on the Add Web Components Server page, next to Step 2: Activate Web Components Server, click Run.

  2. At the Select a Pool screen, select OCSPool01.fabrikam.com.

  3. At the Select Service Account screen, select Create A New Account, and accept the default account name of RTCComponentService. Enter a password that meets your Active Directory password complexity requirements.

  4. At the Select Service Account for Web Access screen, select Create A New Account, and accept the default account name of RTCGuestAccessUser. Enter a password that meets your Active Directory password complexity requirements.

  5. When the wizard is complete, select View the log when you click Finish check box, and review the deployment log after installation completes to verify a successful Web Components Server activation.

Note:
If the activation of the Web Components Server fails with error [0x8007052E] Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password, this may be because the Active Directory domain controllers have not yet fully replicated the new service accounts. Wait for the domain controllers to synchronize (or manually initiate synchronization), and then repeat this procedure in order to re-run the Activate Web Components Server wizard.

Request and Install SSL Certificate

Procedure W03-DWHO.21: To request and install SSL certificate

  1. Follow the steps in Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB 298805 How to enable SSL for all customers who interact with your Web site in Internet Information Services in order to request and install an SSL certificate that will be used for the Web Components. For the purposes of this reference architecture, the common name for this certificate should be web.consolidatedmessenger.com

  2. Bind the new SSL certificate to the Default Website on OCSPOOLWEB01.

Note:
Be sure to mark the SSL certificate as exportable. You will need a copy of this certificate when you create your firewall web publishing rule ('reverse proxy') in order to publish the Address Book web components to the Internet.
