The Client Access Server (CAS) server role accepts connections to your Microsoft Exchange 2007 SP1 server from a variety of different clients, including Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access, POP3, IMAP4, and ActiveSync.

In this topic, you will deploy the Exchange 2007 SP1 Client Access Server (EXCAS01).

Prepare the Client Access Server (EXCAS01)

  1. Install Windows Server 2008 (x64) on EXCAS01.

  2. Enable Remote Desktop.

  3. Join the Fabrikam domain.

  4. Disable Windows Firewall.

  1. On EXCAS01, open the Server Manager console.

  2. Add the Web Server (IIS) role. Add the features required for Web Server (Windows Process Activation Service) when prompted.

  1. On EXCAS01, open the Server Manager console.

  2. Add the RPC over HTTP Proxy and Windows PowerShell features. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
