The Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager monitors the Windows Application log on computers running Exchange 2010 and generates this alert when the events specified in the following Details table are logged.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service logged an error when it tried to copy a file.

  • If MSExchangeFDS event 1019 is logged, this event indicates that the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service did not synchronize offline address book files between Exchange servers that have the Mailbox server role and Client Access server role installed. The File Distribution service is used to distribute offline address book files and custom Unified Messaging prompts.

    This event may occur when either of the following conditions is true:

    • The synchronization operation is interrupted.

    • The destination directory that is specified in the event description cannot be found.

  • If MSExchangeFDS event 1020 is logged, this event indicates that a generic failure occurred during a file copy operation. The error message that is specified in the event description indicates a specific cause for this failure.

User Action

To resolve this error, follow one or more of these steps:

  • Restart the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service from the Microsoft Windows Services console.

  • If Event MSExchangeFDS event 1020 is logged, search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for information about the error that is specified in the event description. To do this, use the Search Knowledge Base feature at the Microsoft Help and Support Web site.

  • Review the Application log and System log on your Exchange 2010 servers for related events. For example, events that occur immediately before and after this event may provide more information about the root cause of this error.

  • Review the Operations Console in Operations Manager for detailed information about the cause of this problem. For more information, see the "Introduction" section in this article.

  • Resolve your issue by using self-support options, assisted support options, and other resources. You can access these resources from the Exchange Server Solutions Center. From this page, click Self-Support Options in the navigation pane to use self-help options. Self-help options include searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base, posting a question at the Exchange Server forums, and others. Alternatively, in the navigation pane, you can click Assisted Support Options to contact a Microsoft support professional.
