The Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager monitors the Windows Application log on computers running Exchange 2010 and generates this alert when the events specified in the following Details table are logged.

The Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search Service (MSExchangeTransportLogSearch) isn't running.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search Service (MSExchangeTransportLogSearch) is not running. The Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search service is used by the Get-MessageTrackingLog cmdlet in the Exchange Management Shell and by the Message Tracking tool in the Exchange Management Console. This service enables searching the message tracking logs on the Hub Transport server, on the Edge Transport server, and on the Mailbox server.

User Action

To resolve this problem, start the Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search service. To do this, follow these steps.

Start the Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search service
  1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

  2. In the Services window, locate the Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search service in the details pane.

  3. Right-click the service, and then click Start.
