Use the Installation Settings page of the Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 (DPM) Setup Wizard to specify the folders to which you want to install the DPM program and database files.

The files can be installed only to a local drive. They cannot be installed to read-only folders, hidden folders, or directly to local Microsoft Windows folders, such as Documents and Settings, Windows NT, or Program Files. (However, the files can be installed to a subfolder in the Program Files folder.)

Note
The installation partition must be formatted with the NTFS file system. To ease recovery in the event of boot partition failure, install DPM to a partition that is separate from the boot partition.

This page contains the elements described in the following table.

Elements

Name Description

Change (DPM Program Files section)

Click to change the default DPM program files installation location.

Change (SQL Server Settings section)

Click to change the default installation location for the DPM database.

Use the dedicated MS$DPM2007$ instance of SQL Server (this will be installed to the DPM install location, if required).

Select this option to use the prerequisite instance of SQL Server installed with DPM on the DPM server.

Use an already existing SQL Server 2005

Select this option to use a previously installed local or remote instance of SQL Server 2005.

If you choose to use an existing instance of SQL Server 2005 instead of installing it from the DPM DVD, the SQL Settings page appears, where you specify the name of the existing instance of SQL Server and the appropriate administrator credentials.

Note
DPM Setup creates the DPMDBAdministrators$DPMMACHINENAME local group on the remote instance of SQL Server. DPM administrators must be added to this group to use the remote instance of SQL Server.

Space Requirements section

Displays space availability on the specified destination drives. If you choose to change the installation folders, verify that the selected drives have enough space for the installation.

After entering your installation settings information, click Next.
