The Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 (DPM) installation involves installing the DPM application and the DPM prerequisite software. The DPM Setup Wizard guides you through the process of specifying DPM configuration settings and automatically installs or provides links to install the prerequisite software as part of the integrated DPM installation process. If you have questions at any point in the process, click Help.
If the following components are already installed on the server, DPM Setup requires only the DPM product DVD or installation share to complete the installation. If the following are not already installed, Setup prompts you for the Product CDs during the installation.
- Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 on Windows
Server 2003
(IIS 6.0 is not installed on Windows Server 2003 by default)
Note |
---|
If you do not install IIS 6.0 before installing SQL Server 2005, SQL Server will not install SQL Server Reporting Services. |
- Windows Deployment Services (WDS) on Windows Server 2003
Service Pack 2 (SP2) servers
- OR -
Single Instance Storage (SIS) on Windows Storage Server R2
- IIS 7.0 on Windows Server 2008 operating system
(IIS 7.0 is not installed on Windows Server 2008)
Note |
---|
You must install Windows PowerShell before installing IIS 7.0 because Windows Process Activation must be installed before IIS 7.0. |
Note |
---|
If you do not install IIS 7.0 before installing SQL Server 2005, SQL Server will not install SQL Server Reporting Services. |
The DPM Setup Wizard is designed to install DPM prerequisite software from the DPM product DVD. If you want to use retail copies of one or more of the prerequisite products for your DPM installation, install the products manually before you start the DPM Setup Wizard. For information about installation settings for prerequisite software, see "Manually Installing Prerequisite Software" in DPM System Requirements (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=66731).
