Because consistency checks affect the performance of both the DPM server and the protected computer, you should schedule consistency checks for hours when reduced responsiveness of the protected computer has the least impact on your business operations and there is the least amount of network traffic. The performance of the computer might be affected while the consistency check runs.
To schedule consistency checks

In DPM Administrator console, click Protection on the navigation bar.

In the display pane, select the protection group for which you want to schedule consistency checks.

In the Actions pane, click Optimize performance.

On the Consistency Check tab, select your consistency check schedule. You can select the Start time and Maximum duration.

To apply your changes, click OK.
