Use the procedure in this topic to deploy operating systems to computers that are offline in your System Center 2012 Configuration Manager environment. For example, you can deploy an operating system to a computer that is not connected to the network or to a computer that is connected by a low bandwidth connection. In this scenario, the destination computer does not have an existing Configuration Manager client installed on the destination computer.

Use stand-alone media to deploy operating systems to offline computers because everything that is required to deploy the operating system is on the media. You create stand-alone media by using the Create Task Sequence Media Wizard. For information about how to create stand-alone media, see the How to Create Stand-alone Media section of the How to Deploy Operating Systems by Using Media in Configuration Manager topic.
