Introduction

System Center Configuration Manager 2007 provides a new interface for OS deployment and other actions through its Task Sequence Editor. Using the Task Sequence Editor, you can create flexible automated task sequences that can deploy ProLiant servers, distribute software, modify configurations, and more. The HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 kit integrates with the Task Sequence Editor so you can easily utilize ProLiant server configuration tools and drivers from the HP SmartStart Scripting Toolkit during the operation system deployment process.

This guide provides information and instructions for Windows Server® operating system deployment utilizing the HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment kit. You must be familiar with the Operating System Deployment feature in Configuration Manager before using the HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment kit. For details on the SmartStart Scripting Toolkit, see the HP SmartStart Scripting Toolkit Windows Edition User Guide.

NOTE: The HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 uses PXE services provided by Windows Deployment Server. Insight Control server deployment, which is part of the Insight Control suite, provides its own PXE services. Insight Control server deployment and ProLiant OS Deployment must not both be installed at the same time, as networking issues might arise.
