Installation overview

The HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 kit consists of the following components:

  • Configuration Manager Console Extensions and Custom Task Sequence Actions

    These user interface elements provide the custom actions available in the Task Sequence Editor and custom forms for creating sample task sequence templates.

  • HP ProLiant Configuration Tools and Drivers

    The HP SmartStart Scripting Toolkit tools and drivers are integrated and available for use with the operating system deployment task sequence and boot images.

  • HP Documentation (User Guide, Troubleshooting Assistant, and white papers)

To install the HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment for System Center Configuration Manager 2007:

  1. Insert the HP Insight Control for Microsoft® System Center CD on the drive of system where Configuration Manager 2007 is installed.

  2. Run the Autorun program on the CD.

  3. Accept the HP license agreement.

  4. Click the Install button, and then launch the HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment kit installer.

  5. To complete the installation, follow the installer instructions.

    The installer updates Configuration Manager 2007 to add the following:

    • User actions for creating HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment template

    • HP Software Distribution Package

    • HP Boot Images

    • HP Drivers

    • HP Driver Packages

  6. To deploy operating systems on ProLiant servers, complete the procedures in the Using the Software (Chapter 4 “Using the software”) section.
