Researching generic alert descriptions

On the MOM Operator Console, the Alert Description might display a generic message about a failed component. In this case, the Knowledge Base for the alert contains directions to review recent alerts and to use the HP Systems Management Homepage to further diagnose the alert.

The description and resolution data is supplied by two sources on the managed system, the SNMP MIB and NT Event. The SNMP MIB reflects the latest condition in State view, but NT Event only generates a condition once. MOM receives the SNMP data and continuously updates the information. The HP ProLiant Management Pack 1.3 for MOM 2005 reads the NT Event once and updates the information in MOM once.

For the full event descriptions, be sure to thoroughly review all NT Event-based alerts.
