Before installing, be sure to read the Requirements and Prerequisites sections of the manual, and that your system complies with all system requirements and prerequisites.
When the SharePoint Application Management Pack is installed, it will automatically discover SharePoint servers on computers that are included in '.NET Enterprise Agent Deployment Group', and then deploy and configure SharePoint monitoring agents on those servers. If you want to only monitor selected servers, then you need to configure the server list prior to installing the SharePoint Application Management Pack.
To include/exclude computers for monitoring, you must modify the list of monitored servers in the '.NET Enterprise Agent Deployment Group'
Unpack the files onto the OpsMgr 2007 Server. The package will contain:
Install the handlers
Setup the Management Pack
Wait for servers to be discovered see the section on
Discovery in this manual for details
Wait for the agents to be deployed
You can monitor the progress of agent
deployment from the OpsMgr Operations Console by looking
under "AVIcode .NET Application Monitoring"Monitoring Agent State, where the
agents that have been deployed will appear. If all agents do not
appear in that view, you can check the deployment progress for
success and failures messages via "AVIcode .NET Application
Monitoring"
'Management Pack Events'
Upgrade the agents (if necessary)
If an agent was already deployed to the
SharePoint server from the Enterprise Management Pack prior to
deploying an agent from the SharePoint Application Management Pack,
then the agent needs to be upgraded to update the Integration
kit.
Once SharePoint applications have been
discovered, they will automatically be configured for monitoring.
In order for monitoring to actually begin, those services must be
restarted. Please read the section of the manual about default
configuration monitoring for more information.
1) All
configuration that is applied for Server Agent remains on all
OpsMgr machines where SharePoint was monitored, 2) Updated version
of Handlers remains on all OpsMgr machines where SharePoint was
monitored. To remove the SharePoint configuration settings
manually, log into each monitored server, open the Intercept
MMC, delete the monitored SharePoint IIS web sites and clear
the corresponding settings in the default configurations.
if the
Management Pack is still installed, and a monitored server is still
included in the '.NET Enterprise Agent Deployment Group' , then the
agent will automatically be re-deployed once it has been removed.
If you wish to permanently remove the agent from a monitored
server, you must first remove the server from the deployment group
(see 'Selecting Servers to Monitor' at the beginning of this
chapter).
This
upgrade process will 1) update all server agent configurations
(including the default configuration), 2) will deploy an updated
version of Handlers to all machines.
If an agent was already deployed to the
SharePoint server from the Enterprise Management Pack prior to
deploying an agent from the SharePoint Application Management Pack,
then the agent needs to be upgraded to update the Integration
kit.
