By default, when you open results in Windows® Assessment Console, they open in the details view. You can open one or more results in the details view, but if you want to open ten or more results, consider using the summary view. For more information, see Summary View.

The details view of results consists of run information, assessment results, a details pane and a metric chart. This topic contains basic information about how to view result details.

In this topic:

Run Information

By default, the table lists the CPU description, job name, job start time, template settings, total errors, and total warnings. Click Select rows to add or remove any of the following run information from the table.

Note
The total errors and warnings cannot be removed from the table.

To show how many times the assessment was ran, right-click the job column header, and then click Show iterations.

Assessment Results

Assessment results for each assessment that the job ran appear after the run information table. The assessment results contain five categories of information, including errors, warnings, issues, metrics, and assessment settings. When you click an individual cell in this results table, more information appears in the details pane on the right. To expand or collapse a row, click the chevron at the start of each row.

The following table describes the information that is available in the assessment results table.

Assessment data Description

Errors

Errors are messages that explain why an assessment could not complete and generate results.

Click the value to see a list of errors in the details pane.

Warnings

Warnings are messages that explain problems that may affect assessment results.

Click the value to see a list of warnings in the details pane.

Issues

Issues identify potential problems with a computer configuration or performance based on measurements that the assessment records. In some cases, more investigation and analysis is possible, and frequently remediation steps are provided to help you make improvements.

The total number of issues found, and the number of issues reported for each assessment within the job are reported. If more than one issue occurs, you can expand the issue to see more information. For more information about the issues that are generated for each assessment, see Windows Assessment Toolkit Technical Reference.

Click an individual issue to see recommended remediation and more analysis information in the details pane.

To group issue by categories, right-click Issues. On the Group by menu, select one of the issue categories.

Metrics

The results of an assessment show metrics (or measurements) that are based on the assessment settings. For more information about the metrics that an individual assessment produces, see Windows Assessment Toolkit Technical Reference.

Top-level metrics aggregate the measurements by categories. Expand a top-level metric to see more information about what contributed to the aggregate number.

When you expand a top-level metric, the details help you locate which assessment measurement is a significant part of any top-level metric. The column next to the metric shows the value of that measurement.

The metric value is color coded if the value has goals. The colored bar next to the metric value indicates the status of the goal, as follows:

  • Green means that the system passed the tests, or that there are no perceived problems.

  • Yellow means that there is a chance to optimize the system, and that you can review the recommendations and analysis.

  • Red means that the system has failed the tests, or that improvements are needed. You should review the recommendations and analysis.

Click the value to see more information in the details pane.

Assessment settings

If the recommended settings were used, the value next to the assessment settings row is Recommended settings. If custom settings were used, click the chevron at the start of the row to expand the row and see what the assessment settings values were when the job ran. For more information about the assessment settings for individual assessments, see Windows Assessment Toolkit Technical Reference.

Click the assessment setting value to see information about the value that was used and the recommended value in the details pane.

To sort and copy detailed results

In addition to viewing the detailed results, you can sort and copy those results to find and use information more effectively.

  • To sort results, click to select a result or issue row in the left column. Then, right-click the row, and then select Sort ascending or Sort descending.

  • To copy results or issues, click to select a result or issue row in the left column. Then, right-click the row, and then click Copy. The result or issue information is copied to the clipboard and can be pasted to other compatible files or programs.
